I haven’t had the heart to post anything after the terrible tragedies that occurred in Paris this past week. I just didn’t feel that talking about luxury was at all important in comparison. As we try to grapple with the causes, the actions, the motives and the future; I cannot help but wonder if this is the end or the beginning. I will say, however, that it was very touching and powerful to see a country with more immigrants than one realizes bond together and continue to believe, even deeper, in the value of freedom of speech and democracy.
So to start to take baby steps in christening this new year ahead, I thought I’d share just a quick post about some much, lighter news. The opening of the Famille Perrin wine shop on the top of the Cours Mirabeau. I guess the Americans are moving into Aix, with a bit of help from their French friends. You might just want to pop in to taste or pick up a few bottles of their incredible 2012 Château de Beaucastel Rouge, a Châteauneuf du Pape, scoring a 96/100 “offering a full-bodied, decadent style to go with awesome black and blue fruits, garrigue, licorice, crushed flowers and violets” or, of course, bottles to save for spring of the famed, Miraval Rosé, from that somewhat famous couple that happens to be good at just about everything.
